The future of solar energy is looking bright--and clear! Researchers at Michigan State University are utilizing organic salts imperceptible to the human eye to absorb light in transparent panels. These Transparent Luminescent Solar Concentrators (TLSC) conduct the energy to the edges of the panels where photovoltaics convert the energy into electricity.
The TLSC technology is ideal in a variety of applications, ranging from windows to mobile device screens. An important ability of TLSC is that it can be integrated in manufacturing, as well as retroactively fit onto existing glass surfaces.
