Thai business woman, Mrs Kanittha Napaworakul, channeled her acumen from her career as an accountant at Bangkok Bankinto her husband's small business of selling bags. In an effort to differentiate the product, Napaworakul sought to integrate solar technology into the bags.
Big Foot, Napaworakul's brand of versatile, durable bags has the ability to charge a mobile phone and store power for three days. Sales were limited for what was a niche product until flood waters seized Bangkok in mid 2011. In the emergency, Big Foot met client demand for a portable, reliable device charger, and sales hiked.
Sales declined when floodwaters receded. But the company retained a small market of tech-crazed teens and those who care for the environment.
