Solar Café Trellis at Google

Pvilion takes the ordinary and makes it extraordinary by enhancing the traditional wood trellis with tensioned PV stainless steel sheet technology.

Google requested an energy savings, eye catching, sun protection shade for its employees. The functional and stunning destination provides a relaxing shady spot. Pvilion’s design of a solar cell integrated trellis is producing direct current electricity while simultaneously being used to support the power grid for the Google campus.

Tommy Hilfiger Solar Tote

Pvilion recently launched its second successful collaboration with Tommy Hilfiger, developing a new solar-powered tote and clutch. Pvilion’s removable solar clutch allows easy access to mobile charging, incorporating a battery and a USB port to power your phone. Utilizing the iconic Tommy color palette of red and blue, this one of a kind tote is made out of durable saffiano textured leather integrated with solar cells. Simply walk outside and see your phone charge as soon as the sun hits it. Measuring at 13″ x 10″ x 17″, the tote showcases a front panel design with star-shaped cutout, allowing sunlight to charge the branded battery hidden within.

Solar Canopy for the Brooklyn Roasting Company Coffee Cart

Pvilion paired with Brooklyn Roasting to construct environmentally-conscious mobile coffee stations.

The coffee carts were made from both recycled and sustainable materials; the wooden frames were built from reclaimed basketball courts, and coffee is kept either iced or hot by Pvilion’s solar technology.

A four-point fabric tensile canopy equipped with a solar array stretches over the top of the cart, generating electricity and providing shade. The first cart was placed in the Brooklyn bridge park, near Deborah Kass’ yellow sculpture “YO/OY”.

Pvilion Designs Battery Conservancy Stands

We designed and built 100 custom tents for the Battery Conservancy’s Midsummer Fair on June 25th and 26th, celebrating the completion of the Battery Oval!

The weekend-long event engaged the public with the region’s biodiversity, showcasing local horticulturalists and agriculturalists, and emphasizing the connection between plant and food production.

Our tents provided shade and space for vendors, those who had been carefully selected by The Battery Conservancy’s advisory board for fulfilling alternative and sustainable production goals.

Each tent was 8’ wide and 10’ deep and covered with top-of- the-line Sunbrella fabric. The versatility of the tents lend themselves to future event use!

Solar Shade Canopy at Yankee Pier on Governor’s Island

Pvilion built and installed the solar canopies at Yankee Pier to provide shade for passengers waiting for the ferry to Brooklyn, and to power the lighting that turns the canopies into a Governors Island icon at night – visible from Brooklyn, and for a mile up and down the East River. These economical, multi-year solar frame tents were constructed for a budget comparable to that of renting commercial tents for one season.

The colorful fabric solar panels are attached to the canopy fabric and frame in a playful “zig-zag” pattern. Pedestal platforms high up on the metal frame support the battery boxes that store the solar electricity that powers the LED RGB lighting bars suspended from the top of the frame.
